Ready to talk

Member of Parliament Prof. G.L. Peiris said that the Opposition is ready for a discussion with the representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

But he said that the Opposition is not ready to engage with the President and participate in the discussions.

Speaking to the media in Colombo, he said national elections are slated for this year and the Opposition will not allow attempts to postpone polls with excuses such as there is no money for it.

The former Minister also said the Presidential Election must be held within a certain timeframe and according to the law, the Presidential Election must be held between September 17 and October 17.
