The Capital Maharaja Group (CMG), together with Eva Sanitary Napkins by ICL Brands (Private) Limited, conducted a half-day session at their head office to commemorate International Women’s Day, celebrating the achievements and contributions of women worldwide.

The event, held on March 9, saw the CMG Wellness Team orchestrating a series of engaging activities aimed at fostering empowerment, inclusivity and breaking gender stereotypes in the workplace.

Keynote speaker Rajarata University Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Dr. Manoj Fernando, delivered an impassioned address focused on enhancing the well-being of Sri Lankan women. Dr. Fernando’s insights on overcoming challenges, particularly Gender-Based Violence, resonated deeply with attendees, emphasising the importance of fostering inclusivity in the professional sphere.

A thought-provoking panel discussion, moderated by CMG’s Company Secretary and Attorney-at-Law, Sonali Wanigabaduge, further delved into the theme of ‘Breaking Gender Stereotypes’. Panelists including Dr. Manoj Fernando, Bhavani Fonseka from the Centre for Policy Alternatives and Tamara Bernard from Commercial Bank of Ceylon, provided invaluable perspectives on challenging societal norms and fostering a more inclusive society.
