Sri Lanka is progressing towards the ‘Golden Era of Ayurveda’ and other indigenous medicinal practices, State Minister of Indigenous Medicine Promotion Sisira Jayakody said. During the COVID-19 pandemic, people became more aware of ayurvedic treatments and retained a lot of faith in indigenous medicinal practices. Most of the people have started adopting these practices more and more.
The State Minister made this observation at a media conference held at Waters’ Edge, Battaramulla, to convey information about the AyurEx Colombo 2024, the International Research Symposium on Traditional Medicine, Educational Exhibition and Trade Fair scheduled to be held from May 3 to 5 at the BMICH.
“During the past decade, herbal product consumption has increased in developed countries. Many segments of the population have changed to using herbal products as a result of increased awareness and harmful side effects and withdrawal of chemical products creating more market opportunities both locally and internationally,” he said.
