Sri Lankan customs today seized 88 live animals and arrested a couple who were trying to smuggle the animals into the country. The animals were imported from Thailand.
The officials said that, the animals were packed in small plastic boxes. The animals included were fish, frogs, squirrels, turtles, lizards, hamsters, salamanders, species of worms, and rats.
The suspects were detained by the Sri Lanka Customs and the animals have been handed over to the Katunayake Airport Animal Quarantine.
