“NPP will review IMF debt restructuring”

NPP Economic Committee Member Sunil Handunnetti stated that the current debt restructuring process with the IMF will be reviewed under a NPP government.

Speaking during an interview with a private TV channel he said a future NPP government had the right to review each loan agreement during the repayment of loans taken by previous governments.

Handunnetti said that the NPP may have to adopt a new debt restructuring programme with all the relevant parties.However, he also said it was not possible to give a definite answer and right now there was uncertainty about what action will be taken in this regards.
