Namal appointed SLPP National Organizer

SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has been appointed as the national organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.

The party has made this decision at the executive council meeting of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna which was held yesterday (27) at the official residence of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, a party spokesman said.

When the executive council of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna met, the name of the former national organiser and founder of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Basil Rajapaksa had been proposed as the national organizer, but he had refused the position. However, the name of MP Namal Rajapaksa was proposed by the MP Jayantha Ketagoda and it was seconded by Wimal Geeganage. Accordingly, Namal Rajapaksa has been unanimously elected as the National Organizer.

The Executive Council of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna met yesterday under the chairmanship of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and all the executive members of the Sri  Lanka Podujana Peramuna had joined for this purpose. Attention had been paid to the current political situation of the country and many matters related to the party internally.
