Speech Master Continues to Flourish as they take on Galle

Speech Master 2024, the All-Island Public Speaking Competition organized by the Gavel Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura embarked on its second chapter in the South, after a successful chapter in Jaffna. On the 2nd of March 2024, the Organizing committee held a workshop on Public Speaking in Richmond College, Galle, where participants were enlightened on their journey towards excellence in communication.

After a successful workshop that further enticed anticipation among participants, the Preliminary Round of Speech Master 2024 of Galle was held on the 9th of March at Southlands College, Galle. The contestants were ready to present their skills and capacity for public speaking and take the stage. The School and University levels of the competition were effectively conducted, with excitement and confidence brewing among the competition panels.

After the competition rounds were held and the distinguished panel of judges consisting of highly respected toastmasters evaluated the contestants, the semi finalists of Speech Master 2024 were chosen. Though not everyone would be selected, the first step taken into delving into one’s individual journey of public speaking is a highly commendable one.

The contestants highly appreciated the competition, and were grateful for the opportunity provided, not only due to the development of their skills, but also due to the proximity of the center. The convenience provided further motivation for aspiring speakers to gather their confidence and participate.

The toastmasters of the esteemed panel of judges were also appreciative of the initiative taken up by the Gavel Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

As such, we await the results from the centers of Kandy and Colombo, after which the Semi Final Round of Speech Master 2024 will be held, with the battle continuing to rage on.

As Toastmaster Nuwan Hettarachchi stated, providing a helping hand to students at a young age in order to build up their journey of public speaking, is something much needed, and we at Speech Master are glad to pioneer this initiative.

Speech Master 2024, where eloquence turns into art at the island’s grand stage, will continue to find the best speakers of the island.
