Elpitiya Plantations recognised among ‘Ten Best Corporate Citizens’
Elpitiya Plantations was once again recognised among the Ten Best Corporate Citizens for the second consecutive year among other Top end corporates.
The company also emerged as the 1st Runner-up in Category B – Annual turnover below Rs. 15 Bn and the project award for ‘Fix to Fix it’ at the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Awards 2023 organised by Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Sustainability has been a core element of the business strategy and innovation for Elpitiya Plantations. The Biochar project ‘Fix to Fix it’ received recognition for its holistic approach in environmental sustainability as it focused on improvement of soil carbon and carbon sequestration to reduce GHG emissions.

The Elpitiya Plantations sustainability team is led by the Managing Director Dr. Rohan Fernado and Jt. Managing Director/CEO Bhathiya Bulumulla under the guidance of Director Dr. Ravi Fernando, a renowned expert in sustainability.
Managed by Aitken Spence Plantation Managements PLC since 1997, Elpitiya Plantations PLC owns 13 estates and 17 factories producing tea and other diversified crops. The company embarked on producing four types of berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries) in Sri Lanka, providing these berries to local consumers with a lower carbon footprint. Moreover, Elpitiya Plantations PLC has diversified operations in sustainable forestry development, eco-tourism, hydro power development, and specialty tea manufacturing.
