The Sri Lanka Police will be implementing a special plan to provide security to mosques during the Ramadan festival which is celebrated by the Muslims. The special security plan which is implemented on the directive of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, will be conducted countrywide with the deployment of Police, Special Task Force, and tri-forces personnel.
The plan to provide security to the mosques has been prepared after meeting the Moulavis of all mosques belonging to each Police Division in the country.
Out of a total of 3,203 mosques in Sri Lanka, Police security protection will be provided for 2,453 mosques in which prayers will be held for the Ramadan festival.
Over 7,350 officers, including 5,580 Police personnel, 510 Police STF officers, and 1,260 tri-forces personnel, are to be deployed to provide special security to the mosques conducting prayers for Ramadan festival.
