SJB ready for both debates with NPP in May

The Opposition and Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday said he cannot join a debate with the NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake on the dates proposed by the NPP due to prior commitments.zSpeaking at a public event he said not only for a debate between the two leaders, the SJB was also ready for a debate between the SJB economic committee and the NPP economic committee. Premadasa said however the NPP seems to be trying to avoid a debate between the economic committees of the two parties.

The SJB has proposed that the SJB and NPP should discuss the dates together and decided on a final date convenient for both parties. Meanwhile in a formal communication addressed to the SJB, the National People’s Power (NPP) has put forth a series of dates for a crucial debate.

The NPP said the debate schedule between the NPP’s Presidential candidate, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and the SJB’s Presidential candidate, Sajith Premadasa, can be scheduled in May.
