SLFP in disarray, people confused due to factionalism – Prelate

Malwatte Mahanayaka Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera stated that because three groups have claimed rights to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), determining the real representatives of the Party has now become a problem for the people.

He also mentioned that the question of who holds the actual rights to the party must be resolved by Court.

The Mahanayaka Thera made this comment when Justice Minister Wijayadasa Rajapakshe and a delegation from the SLFP visited the Malwatte Maha Vihara yesterday (26).

The Thera further stated that because there is a party Constitution, the court will deliver a fair decision in the future. Speaking there, Minister Wijayadasa Rajapakshe announced that 116 members of the SLFP’s executive council unanimously elected him as the acting chairman, with fewer than 10 members of the Executive Council expressing opposition to this decision.
