Officials of Hemas Hospitals held talks with the health authorities in Kenya to explore the possibility of expanding its footprint to that country.
CEO of Hemas Hospitals Sri Lanka Dr. Lakith Peiris and his delegation, led by the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Kenya, Kana V. Kananathan engaged in talks with Kenyan officials in Nairobi, Kenya on Friday to explore opportunities to set up specialized hospitals, laboratories, and pharmaceutical ventures within Kenya’s borders.
The delegation, spearheaded by High Commissioner Kananathan, held extensive discussions with key figures in Kenya’s Ministry of Health, including the Minister of Health. These meetings served as a platform to delve into the potential avenues for collaboration between Hemas Hospitals and Kenya’s healthcare sector.
High Commissioner Kananathan underscored the paramount importance of patient-centric care and innovation, hallmarks of Hemas Hospital’s legacy, which they are eager to bring to the forefront of Kenya’s healthcare landscape. The delegation expressed eagerness to collaborate closely with Kenya’s health authorities to ensure alignment with local regulations and best practices.
Hemas has been pre qualified as one of the bidders to acquire the Government’s stake in the Lanka Hospitals Corporation.
Kananathan said that the Kenyan investment climate is very friendly and he encourages Sri Lankan businesses to open in Kenya. He outlined the vast potential Africa holds for Sri Lankan businessmen hoping to expand operations abroad.
He called on Sri Lankan entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities unfolding in Africa.
Highlighting Kenya as a prime example, High Commissioner Kananathan noted the increasing influx of Sri Lankan businessmen venturing into the Kenyan market. In recent years, a growing number of Sri Lankan enterprises have established their presence in Kenya, signaling a burgeoning partnership between the two nations.
