Expedite ongoing Maharagama Apeksha Hospital development activities – Health Minister
Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana has instructed relevant authorities to expedite the ongoing development activities at the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital to enhance the efficiency of treatment facilities.
A special discussion regarding the proposed development plan of Maharagama Hospital until 2030 was held under the patronage of the Health Minister on Wednesday (15).
Chartered architect of the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) H. W. P. Chandrasiri explained how the proposed future development works of the hospital will be carried out and the problems that have arisen during the implementation of the development projects and the solutions to those problems.
It was pointed out that the construction activities of the four-storied pediatric ward complex initiated in September, 2023 under the financial assistance of Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya is expected to complete by July this year. The estimated cost of this building is Rs.150 million, and a period of eight months was allotted for the project. Project management and construction is done by the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The Health Minister who inspected the construction work of the four-storied children’s ward complex expressed his gratitude to the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya for their immense support extended for the betterment of the country’s healthcare sector.
Health Secretary Dr. Palitha Mahipala, Health Services DG Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Apeksha Hospital’s Deputy Director Dr. Buddhika Kulakulasuriya, Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya’s Basnayaka Nilame Dishan Gunasekara also participated.
