Maximum price for another 50 drugs

Gazette to be issued next week:
Total drugs under MRP to become 110:

National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) Chairman Dr. Ananda Wijewickrema said that the gazette to set the maximum price for another 50 medicinal drugs will be issued next week.

He said that previously price control was imposed for 60 drugs and 50 more drugs will be newly added to this, increasing the number of drugs under price control to 110.

He also said the NMRA will ensure the quality of the medicinal drugs provided to the patients.

Speaking to the media yesterday he said that the medicinal drug problems that happened in the past will not happen in the future and necessary steps have been taken by the authorities in this regard.

He stated that by the end of December, there were 7,500 new drug registrations, which has now been reduced to 3,500, and last October, the drug registration was increased to 1,000 per month, which was about 57 per month.
