Navy Commander attends pinnacle unveiling ceremony at Kotte Rajamaha Viharaya

Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera took part in a spiritual ceremony where the pinnacle of Dalada Mandiraya at Kotte Rajamaha Viharaya, Sri Jayewardenepura was unveiled amidst the blessings of members of Ven. Maha Sangha on Thursday (23).

The renovation of Dalada Mandiraya commenced on October 11, 2021, under the counsel of the Chief Incumbent of Kotte Rajamaha Viharaya, Ven. Dr. Aluthnuwara Anuruddha Thera and manpower provided by the Sri Lanka Navy. The renovation work is scheduled to complete by June 11.

Following the pinnacle unveiling ceremony, the Navy Commander also attended religious rituals presided over by Ven. Dr. Aluthnuwara Anuruddha Thera.

Members of Ven. Maha Sangha, Electrical and Electronic Engineering DG, Rear Admiral Viraj Leelarathna, Civil Engineering Acting Director, Rear Admiral Ravi Gunasinghe, officers from the Navy Headquarters, sailors and devotees were also present.

Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne and ITN Chairman Sudarshana Gunawardana inaugurated the ‘Diyawanna Vesak Zone 2024’ on Thursday evening. This is organised in line with the ‘Buddha Rashmi’ Vesak festival. ‘Diyawanna Vesak Zone 2024’, is organised in collaboration with the Defence Ministry and ITN.

Sri Kalyani Youth Organisation of the Kelaniya Temple with the support of Sri Lanka Army organised a Dansela for the 20th consecutive year. It was opened by Chief Incumbent of Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Thera and Dayaka Sabha Chairman of and former Sri Lankan Envoy in Moscow Dr. Saman Weeasinghe.
