Flameback Eco Lodge wins ‘Good Travel Seal’ sustainable award
Flameback Eco Lodge Weerawila, of Mountain Boutiques Luxury Collection was awarded the ‘Good Travel Seal’ sustainable tourism award at the SME Sector Sustainable Tourism Awards ceremony held at BMICH recently.
The event recognized and honored SLTDA registered local tourism establishments for their commitment and contribution to enhancing sustainable tourism practices within Sri Lanka.
The awards were presented by UNDP Resident Representative Azusa Kubota, Minister for Tourism, Land, Sports and Youth Affairs Harin Fernando, Ambassadors from the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Abbie Trinidad, Regional Technical Advisor for Global BioFin.
Founder and Managing Director of Mountain Boutiques Luxury Collection Dulani Guruge, receiving the award emphasized that this recognition comes as a further motivation to the group’s commitment to further enhance and excel in promoting sustainable tourism practices within its portfolio.
“While we have always highlighted our commitment to promoting tourism with an eco-friendly sustainable approach, we are further enhancing our commitment by adding more community collaboration activities, converting all our properties to 100% renewable energy and initiating agro tourism with in-house green house projects by the end of this year’.”
“Eco-tourism is a key segment that attracts high yield travelers who will not only benefit the tourism establishments but also the community within which the industry operates by engaging in more local activities while respecting the biodiversity, nature and heritage of the island” she added.
