Vesak Day 2024 – Wat Phra Dhammakaya Temple, Thailand

Vesak is an important day in Buddhism. Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, and passed away on this day. The United Nations has also recognised Vesak Day as a day of international importance in the world. Vesak Day is celebrated at Wat Phra Dhammakaya Temple in the ancient city of Ayodhya, Thailand. International participants from Sri Lanka, Malysia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar etc., participated.

A Lifetime Ordination Ceremony was organised for monk and Dhana, Sila, meditation programme and, more than twenty thousand Buddhists attended this event to light candles and pray to the Buddha for the Vesak day. This Dhammakaya Buddhist Centre has gained popularity among the Buddhist people of the world for lighting one million lamps, setting a Guinness World Record.
