First Capital collaborates with Habitat for Humanity builds hope through housing project
First Capital Holdings PLC, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka, announced the completion of its CSR project aimed at providing access to safe and dignified housing for under-privileged families in the Bope-Poddala Division, in the Galle District.
In a heartfelt ceremony attended by senior staff from both organisations and key government officials, two new homes were handed over to deserving families.
From First Capital, Manjula Mathews, Deputy Chairperson; Dilshan Wirasekara, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and Randinith Madanayake, AGM/Head of Marketing, attended the event. H.G. Kithmini Sadeepthika, Acting Divisional Secretary of Bope-Poddala DS Division and representatives from Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka, including Yu Hwa Li, National Director; Eng. T. Kaandeepan, Senior Construction Manager and P. Suresh, Technical Officer, were also present.
The ‘First Capital Housing Project’ was initiated in the Galle District with a mission to provide safe and stable homes for low-income families. The first four homes were constructed for K.H. Achala Udayanthi, G.W. Siripala, H.G. Krishanthi and K.H. Vipulasena, under the technical supervision of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka.
Emphasising eco-friendly practices, the homes have been built using Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB), promoting climate-appropriate construction. This initiative not only aims to improve living conditions but also considers the environmental impact, marking a step towards promoting sustainable development practices.
First Capital Holdings PLC Managing Director/CEO Dilshan Wirasekara said; “We are proud to have partnered with Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka on this project that is very close to our hearts. Our greater vision is to empower the communities around us.
Through this partnership, now on its third year, we have been able to successfully complete six homes for deserving families. We appreciate the support of local authority officials and the ongoing efforts of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in uplifting our communities.”
Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka National Director Yu Hwa Li stated; “This partnership with First Capital has been instrumental in empowering these families and transforming their lives for the better.
Stable housing is a fundamental need, and far too many in our communities lack it. We are incredibly grateful to First Capital for stepping forward and creating this impactful partnership.”
