Cabinet nod for FTA with Malaysia

The Cabinet of Ministers has granted consent to the proposal forwarded by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to reach a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Malaysia, Cabinet Spokesman and Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said.

He was speaking at this week’s Cabinet media conference held yesterday at the Government Information Department.

It has been recognised that the attraction of export-oriented foreign direct investments, diversification of exports and expansion of market access for goods and services are important to regain the economic stability of Sri Lanka. For that, it is necessary for Sri Lanka to develop economic integration with countries that have strong and strategic economies.
