The remains of former Opposition Leader, former Leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and MP R. Sampanthan will be kept Lying-in-State in the Assembly Hall of Parliament from 2 pm to 4 pm today. The Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera requests Members of Parliament to pay their final respects to late R.Sampanthan, whose remains will be kept in the ceremonial hall located in the front of the Parliament building today.
Accordingly, the Secretary General of Parliament also requests Members of Parliament, former Members of Parliament, Parliament staff and the affiliated staff of Parliament to pay their final respects to late Sampanthan.
The final rites for the late R.Sampanthan are scheduled to take place in Trincomalee. Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has issued instructions to relevant officials to ensure all necessary facilities are provided for the ceremony.
