Parama Dhamma Chetiya Maha Pirivena – Tibetology Research Institute, China sign MoU

The signing of a special Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ratmalana Parama Dhamma Chethiya Maha Pirivena, the oldest Pirivena of the modern period, and the Tibetology Research Institute of China, will be held today (15) at the Pirivena. Mahanayaka Thera of the Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha, as advised by the Viharadipathi, Secretary of the World Buddhist Sangha Federation, Ven. Dr. Maitipe Wimalasara Thera, State Minister for Piriven Affairs Vijitha Berugoda, and a distinguished group will participate in this event. A special delegation from the Tibetology Research Institute will also be in attendance. The MoU between the two institutions includes the study of Buddhist Art spread along the Silk Road, Rresearch programmes, holding International Scholarly Conferences, Publication of pamphlets (in Chinese and Sinhala languages), and Cooperative Development.

Parama Dhamma Chetiya Maha Pirivena is an institution that has maintained special foreign Buddhist connections since the time of the late Ven. Dr. Mapalagama Vipulasara Thera held the position of Viharadhipathi. Dr. Vipulasara Thera maintained relations especially with Russia, India and China.
