Funds to complete first phase of Godagama _ Homagama road

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by the Transport and Highways Minister to complete the first part of the construction activities of the Godagama-Homagama road.

Speaking to the media yesterday at the Government Information Department, Cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said funds from the Saudi Fund for Development have been utilized to implement the Kurinchankerni Bridge Project in the Trincomalee district.

After completion of the procurement procedure of this project, there is a further loan balance of US$ 10.5 Million and it has been decided to use the said loan balance to finish part 1 of the Godagama- Homagama road.

US$ 12 Million is required to complete the remaining work of this road and the consensus has been given by the Saudi Funds for Development to grant US$ 1.5 Million from the loan amount of the Road Network Development project funded by the Saudi Fund for Development.
