The “Randora Urumaya” programme to hand over title deeds to 50,000 low-income families living in flats in Colombo city will be held today (17) at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga mentioned that “under the first phase, 1,117 “Randora Urumaya” title deeds are to be given including 937 apartments under the Urban Development Authority and 180 apartments under the National Housing Development Authority”.
He further said “As per the 2024 budget proposal by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, 250,000 low-income families residing in Colombo flats will receive full freehold ownership as part of the “Randora Urumaya” deed programme, which offers freehold land rights to two million people.
Minister Prasanna Ranatunga also stated that the “Randora Urumaya” freehold project is a fulfillment of President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s 2024 budget promises and there is no hidden political interest in this, and this is a task that many governments have not been able to do.
