Sandun Kithulagoda, a Sri Lankan living in New Zealand who has been helping the Colombo National Hospital, Kandy General Hospital as well as several regional hospitals in the country received the Honorary Queen’s Service Medal from Governor Cindy Kiro recently.
He is the only Sri Lankan who was awarded this highest honour in New Zealand history so far.He has donated 33 ICU beds to the Colombo National Hospital. He donated three anaesthetic machines to the Colombo General Hospital recently.The cost of each machine is about twenty million rupees.
In addition, he has donated many medical supplies, including bed sheets to hospitals in the country.Kithulagoda has been associated with the United Sri Lanka Organization in New Zealand for 30 years and also served as its Chairman for three years.
