A 21-year-old woman, who is the registered owner of the bus used by Club Wasantha’s shooters to travel from Korathota to Kataragama has been arrested by the officers of the Police Western Province Southern Crime Division.
A senior police officer said that investigations revealed that the bus was bought in her name, a resident of Mirissa, a few days before the attack.
Investigations have revealed that after the shooting, the two shooters fled in the car they came to Athurugiriya and got into a van in Nawagamuwa and went a short distance.
A senior police officer said that the shooters got out of the van and boarded the bus in the Korathota area.Investigations have revealed that only one person took the van from Korathota to Bulathsinhala and abandoned it.
Police said that the bus was bought after an advertisement which was posted on the internet that it was for sale and that the vehicle was bought after giving cash.
A leader of the investigation team said that the investigation revealed that the two shooters were taken to Kataragama in the same vehicle and the bus could not be found so far.
Police sources said that investigation teams have succeeded in identifying the two shooters.
The investigative teams are confident that the two are still in the country.
Police information also stated that the investigating officers are very confident that they will be able to trap the two who are said to be connected to a security unit.
Seven people have been arrested and remanded till today (22) in connection with the murder of Surendra Wasantha Perera alias Club Wasantha and another person.
