Ranil Wickremesinghe averted SL’s complete bankruptcy – Kesbewa UNP organizer
Kesbewa UNP regional organizer Ranil Willaddarage on Monday said that incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe has rescued the country and fostered a conducive environment for entrepreneurs, while averting bankruptcy.
Willaddarage was speaking at a meeting of youth in the Kesbewa electorate on Monday
“If the country was not stable following the economic crisis, we as entrepreneurs would have encountered a significant challenge and in such a scenario, the private sector would have experienced a substantial collapse. Willaddarage added that the country was fortunate to have navigated the crisis successfully, thereby preventing a situation where approximately six million private sector workers would have been impacted.
“President Wickremesinghe can be described as a leader who effectively fulfilled his responsibilities and navigated challenges with maturity, successfully restoring stability to the country,” Willaddarage said.
He said that during a period when certain leaders shied away from accepting the challenge and departed, the President tackled the crisis head-on and succeeded in stabilizing the country within a brief span of two years.
“Governing a nation requires dedication and perseverance, with no room for shortcuts. Furthermore, unpopular decisions are sometimes necessary for nation-building. In such instances, leadership, experience, and strong decision-making skills are crucial attributes for a leader.”
Willaddarage emphasized the importance of individuals entering politics after addressing their own needs and being in a position to contribute to the welfare of others. This approach could lead to a reduction in fraud and corruption within the country, ultimately benefiting its future.”
