SLPP Presidential candidate to be announced on August 7

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s Presidential candidate will be announced on August 7, a SLPP spokesman said.

The politburo of the party that met on July 29 decided to nominate a Presidential candidate from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna under the party’s symbol for the upcoming Presidential Election.

The spokesman said since further discussions are going on regarding the Presidential candidate, the nominee will be announced in the next week.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has also decided to take action against

its MPs who act contrary to the decision of the party’s politburo and has focused on removing the electoral organizers who act in violation of the politburo decisions.
