Sriyani elected President of Sri Lanka Olympians

Newly elected Committee members of the Sri Lanka Olympians (from left) Julian Bolling, Ruvini Abeymanna, Sugath Thilakarathna (Secretary) Sriyani Kulawansa (President), Damayanthi Dharsha (Vice President), Nimmi de Soyza (Treasurer), Anurudda Rathnayake and Mahesh Perera.

Sriyani Kulawansa who represented Sri Lanka at three Olympics from 1992 was elected as the president of the Sri Lanka Olympians for a term of four years.

Asian Games medallist Sugath Thilakaratne who produced the current national record in the 400 metres in 1998 was elected as the secretary while Asian Games medallist Damayanthi Dharsha was elected vice president at the AGM held at NCC, Maitland Place.

The athletes who represented the Olympics are the members of the Sri Lanka Olympians.

The number of 102 Sri Lankan athletes so far represented the Olympics.

The 73 Olympians are presently living and out of 49 Olympians are residing in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile three new Olympians Yupun Abeykoon, Nimali Liyanarachchi and shooter Tehani Egodawela got new membership of Sri Lanka Olympians.

Meanwhile Nimmi de Soyza was elected Treasurer post and other members who were elected to the committee are Julian Bolling, Mahesh Perera, Anurudha Ratnayake and Ruvini Abeynayake. (D.R)
