Dr. Pradeep Uluwaduge World’s First Plantations Company Chairman to receive ‘Climate Neutral Citizen’ Certification
Chairman Dr. Pradeep Uluwaduge of Browns Plantations, a subsidiary of the largest conglomerate in the country, LOLC Group has recently been honoured with the prestigious achievement ‘Climate Neutral Citizen’ for the year 2023 by Control Union Inspections (Pvt) Ltd, a leading testing, inspection and certification body in Sri Lanka.
This recognition reflects Dr. Uluwaduge’s unwavering passion and long-standing dedication to carbon conscious mobility, afforestation and reforestation, water conservation, renewable energy and waste minimization.
His individual level commitment to these areas has inspired his certification under this first-ever individual level sustainability certification programme. This certification acknowledges Dr. Uluwaduge’s significant contributions to climate action and his steadfast commitment to emission offsetting initiatives.
Managing Director of Control Union – Sri Lanka and Myanmar, Roshan Ranawake and his team of senior personnel called over on August 13, at the LOLC Head Office, on the recipient Dr. Pradeep Uluwaduge and his companies to present the prestigious certificate. In his address Ranawake enumerated the progressive activities initiated and taken by Dr. Uluwaduge who stood out as a beacon in his commitment to the progressive steps which will have beneficial effect on human beings and fauna and flora.
Dr. Uluwaduge heads all HR activities worldwide for the LOLC group in addition to his role as the Chairman of Browns Plantations and he holds a PhD in Management and Business Studies, further complemented by a Masters in law (LL.M) and Bachelor of laws (LL.B) degree – all from the University of Colombo. In addition, he is an Attorney at Law and a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA) of UK and is a member of The Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA) of USA.
He holds a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management. He is also a visiting supervisor/Lecturer and visiting faculty for M.Phil/Ph.D Programmes of Business schools.
Browns Plantations having progressively moved into the international sphere, have acquired large extents of tea estates and factories in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and China in addition on its holding to three large Regional Plantation Companies in Sri Lanka, thereby surging into the position of the largest producer of tea universally. Dr. Uluwaduge as Chairman of these entities richly deserves the recognition accorded to him by this certification. Dr. Uluwaduge reiterated the onus vested on him and Browns Plantations to ensure the Environmental, Social and Governance initiatives across its Global Operation and the importance of settling an example to other agricultural and plantation companies.
