“Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is a victorious political party and a victorious political force. I would like to thank the people of this country and all the parties for trusting us. “NPP can easily win Presidential Election”

“National People’s Power (NPP) can win this election easily. In our country, calling for nominations, holding elections, government formations and government overthrows are not new since those have been happening for over the last 70 years.

“But the end result is that the country and the people are facing great difficulties. Therefore, this can be identified as the vote to save the country from this disaster. There is a great desire of the people that this situation should be changed. The movement of change is what the National People’s Power is doing. So it is definitely possible to win. The results of the things that have been done behind the scenes are now being seen. People have learned lessons from politics. Lessons have been learned from experience. The media also has a big role to make this change.”

 

“EC did not maintain discipline on nominations day”

“The acceptance of nominations was very successful. But I regret that the Election Commission (EC) did not maintain the discipline in the process of handing over the nominations today. We have come to hand over nominations earlier, but we didn’t see such a situation before this. Then we remember that discipline is maintained as the solemnity of a courtroom. But this time, gangs have formed like near the Kopi Kade in the village. No discipline was observed. When the world sees these things, we feel sorry for the image that is created about us. People who are going to become the first person of the country, behaved like this today. The second thing is that a large number of people came to promote one candidate like never before. They behaved like gangs. It is necessary to maintain the necessary discipline in these activities from now on. Because before we ask people to maintain discipline, we need to maintain discipline.”

 

“I will work to win the Motherland”

“Everything is being done to conduct a free and fair election. All the aspirants are requested to spend this time freely and fairly. The people of this country want free and fair elections. I hope to contest for the election fairly and get the maximum number of votes. I came to the ballot with the aim of serving the people of this country. There are many prominent stars around me, including MP Wimal Weerawansa who got the most votes. I compete with the star sign and will work to win the Motherland.”

 

 

 

“I will abolish the Executive Presidency”

“Has anyone who is contesting the Presidential Election said that the Executive Presidency will be abolished? Has anyone said that this country will not be divided? Nobody says that. They are afraid to say so. Remember, if the Janasetha Peramuna comes to power, the Executive Presidency will be abolished. The Provincial Councils Act will be repealed. The 13th Amendment will not be allowed to be implemented. Therefore, I request the people to cast your valuable votes in an orderly manner this time. Now political supporters come to your house saying, ‘brother’, ‘sister’, but none of them have worked for this country. They are now coming to take the people’s mandate like toddlers. When they come to steal your mandate, you pick up a broom.”

 

“An independent candidate can do what 225 MPs couldn’t do”

“I firmly believe that a capable leader is needed to build the country. But since such a leader is not visible, I thought that I should contest the Presidential Election. I believe that an Independent candidate has a chance to perform this job. All the time people said ‘no’ to all 225 MPs of Parliament since people have understood that they cannot do the job. Even before some people joined together, the country was not built. What they do is to deceive people. I am speaking for the silent people because I understand that these people cannot build the country. That is why I am performing independently as an Independent candidate.”
