The Grama Niladhari Officers’ Alliance suspended its ongoing trade union action today.
A spokesman for the alliance said the measure was temporary and the decision had been taken as the trade union aims to provide the maximum contribution of its members for the successful holding of the upcoming Presidential Election.
He said Grama Niladhari officers play a vital role in the election process.
The Grama Niladhari Officers’ unions launched trade union action recently, demanding adjustments to the Grama Niladhari service constitutions and allowance increments inline with the currebt cost of living.
