Probe begins on Lankan Second Lieutenant who disappeared after Sandhurst training

The British High Commissioner’s Office and the Sri Lankan Army have started a special investigation regarding the non-return of the Sri Lankan cadet officer Second Lieutenant Mohammad Aneek, who recently passed out from the prestigious Sandhurst Military Academy in Britain.

This officer was discharged on August 9 after 44 weeks of training. Although he was supposed to arrive in Sri Lanka on August 11, he had not returned on the scheduled flight.

Sri Lanka Army’s media spokesman Major General K.A.N. Rasika Kumara said that the officer had told officials that he would return to Sri Lanka by another flight.

Although the High Commission of Sri Lanka had prepared flight facilities for this officer to return to Sri Lanka on August 11, he did not arrive on that day but was informed that he would come later. The military spokesman also said that the High Commission of Sri Lanka has been informed about his absence. Sri Lankan High Commissioner of to the United Kingdom, Rohitha Bogollagama was also present to congratulate this officer at the passing out parade. The missing officer is a resident of the Mawanella Imbula area. The Army Media Director further stated that the rumours spreading on social media that other members of his family are also missing are completely false.
