SLPP Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa yesterday said that he is not ready to betray the party and the country for short term previleges and positions
Addressing the SLPP’s maiden election rally in Anuradhapura, Rajapaksa said that he is not afraid of challenges and he is always willing to embrace challenges.
He added that modern agriculture will be introduced to the youths in the country and steps will be taken to provide fertiliser subsidy to the farmers again.
“Heads of local government bodies and party members were dedicated to protect the party during the past few years. Our party changed the political landscape.When we accept the country, the entire country was engulfed with the threat of Covid-19 and the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa gave priority to protect the lives of the people from the pandemic,” he said.
Rajapaksa said that his party gave support to UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe when conspiracies were being hatched against the country to protect the country.
“We don’t want opportunistic politics and we don’t work for short-term objectives.Therefore the SLPP decided to form a government. We learnt the art of accepting challenges that come in our way from former President Mahinda Rajapaska,”he said.
He added that his party is hinges on a policy and the party is committed to build a country with sound economy.”We will not allow to create border villages within the country as long as we are in politics,” he said.
