“No one who wins presidential election can deviate from the IMF agreements”

Sajith and Anura are making many promises to the voters to win the presidential election. But most of their promises are against IMF agreements. Even Hon. President Ranil Wickremesinghe also cannot break those agreements. If he breaks those agreements, the IMF will stop supporting our country. Even the President is not capable of rebuilding it.

The Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera, expressed these views while addressing a public meeting held in Agunakolapalassa yesterday (22). The Minister made these comments while addressing a meeting of activists of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, United National Party and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna to confirm the victory of the Honorable President Ranil Wickramasinghe who is contesting the presidential election.

They can’t do comlete their promises in future. We have decided to give 25,000 rupees as government employee allowance from the month of January according to those IMF agreements. Also, it was decided to provide fertilizer subsidy up to 15,000 rupees in the upcoming maha season according to that agreement. Otherwise, if we want to break these agreements, the country will collapse.

We have never voted for the Honorable President Ranil Wickremesinghe. But the excellence of his leadership that he has shown in the last two years should be truly appreciated. A good leader emerges from the way he faces a crisis.

During the economic crisis, both Sajith and Anura ran away saying that they could not take over the country. That’s because they don’t have any self-confidence. Now Anura says that he wants to take over the country and he sent a letter to Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. It has now been proven to be a complete lie.

Also, when we asked Sajith to take over the country, he said that he needed to discuss it with the officials of the Ministry of Finance. After giving that opportunity, his so-called economists said. Don’t accept it. At this time, taking over the country was considered suicide and ran away in fear. Only Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe faced the crisis without fear. He not only accepted this challenge. This crisis was managed very well.

And he has proven to the country that he is a capable leader. Therefore, in this year’s presidential election, a number of progressive parties in this country, led by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, are committed to his victory today. And he is coming to this election as an independent candidate. He is not contesting representing a party. Hon. President Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe contested the Presidential Election as the nation’s candidate.

Therefore, we are working to make him win. I am working for him in this election more than my election. The minister also said that the presidential candidate we support will definitely win.
