SLFP MPs Angajan, Dushmantha pledge support to President

Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and Jaffna District MP Angajan Ramanathan, along with the former acting General Secretary of the SLFP Sarathi Dushmantha, have pledged their support for President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is running as an independent candidate in the upcoming Presidential Election.

These two met with President Wickremesinghe at his political office in Flower Road, Colombo, to convey their decision officially earlier yesterday (23).

Addressing a special press briefing, they emphasized that the country needs a leader capable of delivering practical solutions to the ongoing economic crisis. The MPs asserted that there is no room for political experiments and that, for the sake of the country’s future; they are fully committed to ensuring the victory of President Wickremesinghe in this presidential election.

The MPs highlighted that under the leadership of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, they have experienced a clean and principled political journey.

MP Angajan Ramanathan, Vice President of the SLFP, was first elected to the Northern Provincial Council in 2013. He entered Parliament for the first time in 2015 as a National List Member. In the general election 2020, he ran for the Jaffna district under the SLFP and was re- elected to Parliament. Currently, he serves as a Senior Vice President of the SLFP and holds the position of Deputy Chairperson of Committees in Parliament. MP Sarathi Dushmantha Mitrhapala was first elected to Parliament from the Kegalle district in 2015 parliamentary elections. He previously served as the acting General Secretary of the SLFP and is currently a member of the party’s central committee.

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Chief of the Presidential Staff and Senior Adviser to the President on National Security Sagala Ratnayaka and former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara were also present.
