No more than 5 per Party for Polls propaganda- Election Commission Chairman
The Chairman of the Election Commission (EC) R.M.A.L. Ratnayake said that, if more than 5 people come together to distribute election pamphlets from house to house, all the police stations have been instructed to enforce the Law against them.
He said that the EC has informed all the Pparties that the maximum number of people who can participate in the door-to-door distribution of election pamphlets is 5.
He added that if more than 5 people go together to distribute election pamphlets from house to house, it is an illegal act, and the Police should immediately apply the Law against them.
The EC Chairman said that he has received information that more than 5 people from certain political Parties are going door to door to distribute handout, while some are going in processions, which is a violation of Election Laws.
