Violent people are now talking about democracy – Dayasiri
People who created bloodshed in the country are now talking about democracy and developing the country, said Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara.
Addressing a rally in Welimada in support of SJS Presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa, he said, “We’ve faced a few setbacks in the past weeks. Everyone was chanting ‘Malimaawa’ (Compass). But now, everyone is saying ‘Sajith, Sajith’. Within ten days, the whole country will be chanting his name.”
“In 2010, we united to make Sajith Premadasa the United National Party (UNP) leader. As a result, we had to quit our Parliamentary seats. I’ve rejoined Sajith Premadasa this time, not to make him the party leader, but to make him the President of the country.
“Those who claim allegiance to a culture of assassination, the next generation of killers after Wijeweera, have joined this race with the ‘Compass’. They talk of how they are going to develop the country and of democracy. No other party has done as much damage to this country as they have. Although the younger generation may not know the darkness they brought to this country, the older generation is well aware of it.”
