Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said that the government saved Rs. 10 million due to a proper and systematic online recruitment of students for Colleges of Education (CoE).

Previously, Rs. 13.5 million was spent for the recruitment of those students, but this time only Rs. 3.5 million was spent.

The Minister said this during a discussion held at the Ministry of Education.

The Minister further said that, earlier, the recruitment of students for CoE took nearly 2 years, but this time the recruitment process was completed in a very short period of 4 months.

With the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Attorney General (AG), ‘Informatics Institute of Technology’ provided comprehensive technical support for this work. Commenting on the establishment of a University instead of CoE, the Minister said that the final draft for the establishment of a “University of Education”, by merging all 19 CoE, has been forwarded to the AG, and will be forwarded to the Cabinet by next week.
