SJB MP Rohini Kavirathna stated that if the National People’s Power (NPP) comes to power, not only the dollar but also the rupee would lose its value, leading the country to bankruptcy.

The Parliamentarian made this statement while participating in a public rally held in Dambulla to support the victory of Presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa.

She warned that if experimental rulers are appointed, the remaining dollars in the country would disappear, leading to another dollar shortage, which would result in shortages of fuel, gas, medicines, and fertiliser.

The MP said: “Due to the current political instability in the country, the stock market is collapsing, and there is a risk of the dollar rising. Holding three elections in the near future would cost over Rs.3 billion. If a team capable of rebuilding the country’s economy does not come to power, the country will once again face an era of queues

by the time the elections are over. Therefore, Sajith Premadasa, who has the best team for state governance, should be elected as President. This Presidential Election will cost Rs.1 billion, followed by a General Election costing over another Rs.1 billion.

According to Court orders, an additional Rs.1.2 billion will be needed for the Local Government elections. In total, more than Rs.3.2 billion will be required just for these elections.”
