Several provincial Governors have tendered their resignations after the election of the ninth President of Sri Lanka.
The Governor of the Uva Province Anura Vidanagamage has tendered his resignation from his position. He has submitted his letter of resignation to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (23).
Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena who served as the Governor of the Southern Province has also resigned from his position with immediate effect. The North Central Province Governor Mahipala Herath and Sabaragamuwa Province Governor Navin Disanayake have also tendered resignations from their positions as governors.
Also, the Central Province Governor Lalith Gamage and Governor of the North Western Province Naseer Ahamed have tendered their resignations from their positions with immediate effect prompted by the election of a new President.
