PM tenders resignation

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena tendered his resignation in a letter to outgoing President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday.

In a letter addressed to outgoing President Wickremesinghe yesterday (23), Premier Gunawardena had stated that as the Ninth President of Sri Lanka has been elected in the Presidential Election held on September 21, he will resign from his position in accordance with Article 47(2) of the Constitution.

Dinesh Gunawardena stated that the support extended by the outgoing President Ranil Wickremesinghe to him during his tenure as the Prime Minister to serve the motherland is greatly appreciated by him.
