Chiranga Lakshan, a 25-year-old graduate in Materials Engineering Technology from the University of Rajarata, won a Gold medal for the best research abstract oral presentation at the undergraduate research symposium, followed by another Gold medal for the best research, during his convocation.
He is a past student of Sarasavi Uyana College in Kandy and Galewela Central College. During his degree, he specialised in areas such as ceramics, polymers, and metallurgy, which form the foundation of many industrial applications.
In addition to his academic and research accomplishments, he has completed a six-month industrial training programme as a process engineer trainee. Beyond engineering, he is a ballet dancer and in 2015, won the award for the best ballet dancer in Sri Lanka.
