SLPP to field young, talented candidates for General Election
The SLPP Central Working Committee has decided to give nominations to educated and talented and active youngsters this time for them to represent the SLPP during the forthcoming General Election which is planned to be held by the Elections Commission (EC) on November 14, this year, said former Cabinet Minister and National Organiser of the SLPP Namal Rajapaksa at a media briefing held at Kurunegala on Sunday (29).
More opportunities to represent the SLPP at the next General Election would be allocated for former representatives of Pradeshiya Sabhas, and Provincial Councils who are below 50 years of age.
There are more opportunities left for filling the posts of District leaders and chief organisers of electorates of the SLPP countrywide to represent the SLPP at the next General Election and deserving candidates would be selected and appointed very soon to fill up the existing vacancies. Those who are equipped with far-sighted political visions with deep understanding of common people’s problems would be given priority while appointing to these responsible positions,” said National Organiser of the SLPP.
He added that 15 Parliamentarians are to be elected from the Kurunegala District alone in the forthcoming Parliamentary election.
