Former Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena announced yesterday (4) that he will not be contesting in the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
Dr. Gunawardena stated that he has served the people to the best of his abilities for over 20 years, representing the Homagama electoral district as a Deputy Minister and Cabinet Minister. He expressed his satisfaction with his contributions to the people of Homagama, an electorate that had been without proper parliamentary representation for years. He highlighted the transformation of Homagama into a center of knowledge, one of his proudest achievements.
Looking ahead, Dr. Gunawardena mentioned his plans to pursue another doctorate and to work on producing a film in the coming years.
