NTC to take action against bus operators who charge old fares

National Transport Commission (NTC) Director General Naomi Jayawardena said that legal action will be taken from today against buses that charge more than the revised bus fares.

She said that complaints are being received that instead of the reduced bus fare, some bus crew are still engaged in charging the old bus fare and the law will be strictly enforced against those doing such things.

Accordingly, she requests the passengers to inform about the buses that charge more than the stipulated amount.

She said that complaints can be submitted to the NTC hotline 1955 or the WhatsApp number 0712 59 55 55 regarding the errant inter-provincial private buses.

She also said that complaints can be made to the hotline 1958 regarding the buses of the Sri Lanka Transport Board and to the respective provincial authorities regarding the buses running within the respective province.
