A 35-year-old Sri Lankan passenger has been arrested by the Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake while in possession of over 10 kilograms of ‘Ice’ (crystal methamphetamine), estimated to be worth around Rs. 250 million.
Approximately 10.197 kilograms of ‘Ice’ drugs hidden inside tea packets has been discovered from the passenger’s luggage.
Passenger had arrived at BIA from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia last night (18).
The passenger is identified as a resident of Dematagoda, along with the drugs consignment, have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigation.
