Govts should focus on addressing people’s needs – SJB Mahara organiser
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Mahara Electorate Organiser Hasith Gunasekara said successive Governments have primarily focused on increasing and securing the number of Ministers, rather than addressing the needs of the people.
“National wealth has been divided among their families, and in the past Presidential Election, election laws were blatantly violated by granting bar licences and fuel permits to cronies, disregarding the Election Commission’s guidelines,” he added.
Speaking at a meeting with party members from his constituency, Gunasekara remarked that the power struggle and priorities of political parties in the country often do not align with the development.
Gunasekara stressed that many sectors in the country need to be rebuilt from scratch, including health, education, transportation, and food security and the SJB had a competent team to implement meaningful development in the above sectors.
He pledged to utilise his full strength to secure victory for his party in the Gampaha District during the upcoming General Election.
He also highlighted the serious issues faced by the working class in their daily lives. “By reducing taxes on food and ensuring the quality of food products, we can not only lower healthcare costs but also create a healthier generation, saving billions in the long run,” he explained.
He also stated that the party’s leader has already planned and strategised to address these issues. “As Gampaha District is a significant power base, we are committed to sending a higher number of Parliamentarians to the next Parliament,” Gunasekara emphasised.
