Ven. Uparathana Nayaka Thera felicitated

Chief Incumbent of the Maryland International Buddhist Temple, Most Venerable Katugastota Uparathana Nayaka Thera has been felicitated by the US government for the precedent set by utilizing the power of the interfaith community to socialize the green climate action plan.

Ven. Uparathana Nayaka Thera was presented with a special appreciation award by the Montgomery County Council The Ven. Thera was presented with this appreciation award when the Climate Action Plan prepared for the Montgomery County Council area to deal with future climate change was announced on October 13 in Wheaton City, Maryland District.

The programme highlighted five critical areas that will advance the country’s smart climate programmes and funding opportunities, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

County Executive Marc Elrich, head of the Montgomery County Council said that the Montgomery County Council has prepared plans to reduce the carbon percentage of the atmosphere by 80 percent by 2027 and by 100 percent by 2035.
