National unity is essential to the rise of Sri Lanka as a Nation – Samantha Ranasinghe
Kegalle district candidate of the National People’s Power (NPP) Samantha Ranasinghe said that national unity is a crucial factor for the development of a country.
He said that racism, sectarianism, communalism, casteism and political party deviations are obstacles to the development of the country. Therefore, he emphasised that building a Sri Lankan nation free of such unnecessary divisions is a priority task.
Ranasinghe made these remarks while addressing an election meeting held at Thismalpola, Rambukkana targeting the winning of the forthcoming Parliamentary Election on Sunday (27).
Time provides space to build Sri Lankan nations and it is also a decisive factor for the development of the country, he added.
He further said that within the next two years, the NPP will set aside these differences and create the necessary environment to stand up as a Sri Lankan nation with unity.
“National unity is essential to the rise of Sri Lanka as a Nation,” he added. He also emphasised that the people’s representatives should be a group of role models without corruption to build the bankrupt country in ever sector. It is an essential factor for the public representative to be an exemplary person who loves the environment, nature and people.
“In the upcoming General Election, you have a wonderful opportunity to elect a group of rulers with these good virtues. The opportunity has arisen to expel the corrupt and appoint a pro-country group to parliament, the politician should be directly responsible for the eradication of theft, corruption and fraud in the society as well as the spread of drugs,” he noted.
Ranasinghe further said that at present the women of the country are gathering around the NPP with great enthusiasm and stated that the activities of the Prime Minister have also directly affected it.
“The Prime Minister made a special commitment to build the NPP. Due to the exemplary role of the Prime Minister, the women of the country are coming forward to strengthen the party,” he added.
The NPP is a party that created people’s representatives who do not receive salaries or other privileges including vehicle permits. He also stated that it is a party that has created an exemplary political culture. In the next five years, a new interpretation of the country-friendly, nation-friendly politician will be provided to the country by the NPP.
“You will see a populist, exemplary politician who uses the country’s public transport system and hangs out with the common people,” he noted.
