Rain forecast for several provinces

Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western Provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Mannar districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the other areas of the island during the evening or night.

Strong winds of about 40 kmph can be expected over the Northern, North Central and North Western Provinces and in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Puttalam via Kankesanturai and Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil can be rough at times, the Meteorology Department said.

Also the sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle can be fairly rough at times.
